The Knife & Cleaver

Great catch up with friends. Quiet location despite the chime of the church bells opposite and as expected the restaurant and bar were quiet on a cold Monday night in January, just after a busy Christmas & New Year. Lovely wholesome British food for dinner and a good breakfast to start the journey home. We loved the complimentary selection of teas,coffee,chocolate and biscuits available in our room. Friendly staff at dinner and breakfast.

I needed a place to stay last minute for a business event. I loved the look of Knive & Cleaver and the restaurant. The room was very rustic in design, matching the rest of the restaurant's interior. I love it. There was no noise during the night; I didn't hear other guests, and it was so peaceful in the area. The follow morning I arrived for breakfast and was surprised by the variety and the chef's presentation skills were impeccable. I absolutely loved the salmon and scrambled eggs on toast with avocado - highly recommended. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Will definitely book there again for future trips.

Nicely decorated, room was clean and tidy. My room was in the annexe building behind the pub, so quieter in the evening than it would be in the pub itself. Food at the pub is great - I had the Gammon and Leek homemade pie with all the trimmings. Reasonably priced, and large portions. Good selection of ales and wines. Breakfast was very good - I had Eggs Benedict, but there were many options. EV charger at the front of the property - only a slow connection, but free.of charge, so I got 130 miles range added overnight FoC. Staff were all friendly, smiley, and happy to help. Really handy for an event at Millbrook Proving Ground.

Fairly spacious room, that the rooms were outside of the pub. The rooms were all on one level. So no stairs. Facilities in the room were what we needed. A comfy bed, shower, tea and coffee, iron and ironing board.

I think it was a nice set up, bedroom, small lounge, small garden, with an ensuite. The location is also nice and quiet, and rural. The pub attached was very quaint,. The whole thing was quite picturesque.
